湖南长沙人。擅长油画。英国爱丁堡美术学院毕业。曾任上海美术专门学校教授，国立北京美术专门学校西画系主任，国立北平大学艺术学院教授，江西师范学院艺术系教授，中国美术家协会第二届理事。
作品有《人民的庐山――登山公路》、《鱼米之乡》、《八1 大桥》等。
