黄国强教授，号赤道之子，本籍 广东花县，生于马来西亚，1954年回国，1960年毕业于地方 工艺美术学院，历任装璜 设计系、书籍艺术系副主任、基础部主任、清华大学美术学院学术与职称评审委员会委员，曾任马来西亚国际古代 艺术集团驻中国教育总监、云南大学国际古代 设计艺术学院院长，系中国美术家协会会员、北京美术教育学会理事。多次在国内及法国、德国、澳大利亚等国家和地区举办画展与讲学，其作品为1 些国家博物馆、艺术中心收藏。次要 著作有《中国传统装潢 画》、《黄国强画集》、《古代 设计艺术理论丛书》《古代 设计与传统艺术》等。
1980年彩墨画作品《神曲》参加澳大利亚世界博览会，并为墨尔本博物馆收藏；
1980年在北京、上海、兰州举办“我们所见的敦煌”巡回联展；
1981年在哈尔滨市举办个人画展；并作“传统与古代 、抽象与具象、视觉经验能与视觉情势 ”的学术报告；
1985年在香港讲学并举办个人画展；分别在香港的两个电视台做了“敦煌艺术”的介绍；
1985年在菲律宾中国艺术中心举办个人画展。同时参加中国驻菲律宾使馆举办的“中国古今名家画展”；
1986年应新加坡艺术协会与新加坡南洋艺术学院约请 赴新加坡举办“北京三教授画展”；同时，应南洋文明 研讨 会、亚洲文明 研讨 会等5 大学术团体及新加坡教育部约请 ，分别作学术报告。
1987年彩墨画作品“买土陶的老人”与个人传略被录入日本株式会社朝阳 社出版的《古代 中国国画家名鉴》；
1989年彩墨画作品“雪莲”由文明 部选送参加在摩洛哥举办的第三十三届国际蒙地卡罗绘画大展，个人传略录入《中国古代 美术家名人大词典》；
1992年在马来西亚举办个人画展，并在马来西亚艺术学院讲学；
1993年在奥地利维也纳举办个人画展，作品“山茶花”为奥地利国家博物馆收藏，并在奥地利国家美术学院举办“中国绘画美学特征”的专题演讲；作品和传略录入《世界当代书画家作品集》和《世界当代书画名家大词典》；
1994年在马来西亚举办个人画展；
1995年应法国国际艺术城之邀，赴法国、德国、英国、比利时、荷兰、意大利、奥地利为期半年的艺术考察；在法国巴黎举办个人画展；并参加了德国法兰克福的联展；
1999年在新西兰举办个人画展并在美兹大学讲学；
2001年在湖南株洲举办钟正山、黄国强双人画展；
2006年参加山东威海红十字会募捐画展；
2007年在山东威海举办个人画展；
2008年在山东济南举办个人画展；
2008年在中国TOM网站举办的网上大讲堂做“敦煌艺术”和“汉化艺术”的系列讲座；
2009年在广东中山市参加孙中山143周年纪念画展；
2009年在云南昆明参加中国佛教协会举办的联展；
2012年9月在清华大学美术学院美术馆举办“黄国强-执教50周年作品回顾展”大受好评
2012年11月在北京大学百年讲坛举行“大爱无疆”画展并举办“敦煌艺术”的讲座。
