1968年生于北京
1989年公派赴俄罗斯列宾美院留学
1996年以全优的成绩毕业于列宾美院，获硕士学位。
任教于地方 美术学院油画系、基础部副教授。
现为中国美术家协会会员、俄罗斯美术家协会会员、国际美术家协会会员、中国油画学会会员、国家首位公派俄罗斯列宾美术学院在读博士。

1989年由国家公派赴俄罗斯列宾美术学院留学。
现任教于地方 美术学院油画系、基础部，副教授，中国油画家协会员
如今 是首位国家公派列宾美院退职 博士
1994年她于莫斯科参加“国际美术家协会”，在俄期间多次参加各种展览，多次举办个人画展。
1996毕业创作《孤独》于1996年获俄罗斯美术研讨 院颁发的嘉奖，作品被具有二百年历史的俄罗斯第三大博物馆—美术研讨 院博物馆收藏。
1997年于北京参加“第二代留俄艺术家汇报展”
1997年叶南以油画作品《重负》获“走向新世纪—中国青年油画展”奖；
1997年叶南的素描作品在“中国当代素描展”中获学院艺术奖。
1998年和油画家孙韬举办“孙韬叶南绘画作品展”
1999年参加青岛国际美术双年展，
2000年1月参加“世纪之门：1997-1999年中国艺术约请 展”，
2000年7月参加“20世纪中国百年油画展”
2001年2月于北京国际艺苑举办“精神的穿行——孙韬叶南作品展”
2001年—2005年《呼唤 》组画等近十幅作品被中国美术馆收藏
2001年于成都参加《世纪之门-----中国艺术约请 展》
2001年参加于南美多国举办的《中国当代绘画艺术展》
2001年10月在参加广东举办的“第5 界全国体育美展”
2002年参加文明 部举办的题为“中国当代艺术”南美巡展
2002年于成都参加《世纪艺术论坛》
2003年参加第三界“中国油画展”
2003年参加“巴金百年诞辰约请 展”
2004年于北京参加“中国风采展”
2004年参加第十界“全国美展”获优秀奖。作品被浙江美术馆收藏。
2005年《花神》（伦勃郎原作复制品）等７件于俄罗斯阿尔米塔什博物馆临摹的古典大师的原作复制品被中国美术馆收藏。
编写出版专著《地方 美院教学丛书—叶南教学》、《俄罗斯素描技法》、《涅瓦回望——记列宾美术学院绘画系》、《地方 美院教材—解构人体》、出版画册《从列宾美院走来－孙韬、叶南绘画作品集》、《中国油画家—叶南写生集》、《叶南速写集》。
