刘根长，1963年生于北京，1983年毕业于北京工业大学艺术设计学院。中国美协会员，北京美协理事。现任全国政协《画界》杂志编辑部主任、人民政协报《美术》专刊主编。2008年始参加三川艺舍文明 传播中心举办的“描绘5 色土”油画写生系列活动。出版作品有《墨古——人体彩墨画辑》，油画作品《痕迹》在2009年保利秋拍中成交。
