 John Cyril Harrison (1898-1985) Although he was born in Wiltshire and spent his childhood in British Columbia (1912-15), most of his adult life was in Norfolk. He is very concerned about the life of birds and their extensive protection. Every year, he donates a watercolor to Norfok Naturalist's Trust as their Christmas card. Harrison's talent as an artist was precocious and was recognized at the age of six, but he continued to study at the Slade School of Art in London a few years later during World War I. Harrison is a frequent visitor to Scotland, often with his friend, naturalist Seton Gordon. In Scotland, Gordon and Harrison studied the Golden Eagles and the results of their holidays. Harrison later explained that Gordon's book, together with Golden Eagle, was published in 1927 by Harrison in other publications, including bird portraits, in 1949, which were both written and illustrated by Harrison. Bird portraits include many of Harrison's delightful live sketches and a number of completed watercolor paintings, including "Launch into Space" (the main door).
