柴刚，山东潍坊人；1990年7月本科毕业于山东艺术学院油画专业，同年7月就职于山东省潍坊学院美术系，现为桂林电子科技大学艺术与设计学院教授。
中国美术家协会会员，会员编号007714，作品多次参加全国美展，曾分别获1 等奖、银奖、优秀奖，多次赴国外（德国、法国、新加坡、马来西亚、比利时等国家）进行学术访问、讲学（二年）、举办个人画展、国际联展等艺术交流互动。被誉为“中国著名油画家”，“照相式写实主义和意味 式写实主义”的时代画家、多幅作品被博物馆、画廊、公司、私人收藏；作品及文章多次被《美术》、《美术大观》、《中国水彩》、《艺术设计》、《ADAC艺术家年鉴》（德国）、《传真》（马来西亚）等专业杂志发表、介绍。

2009年5月，油画作品《远方的云》荣获：“倡导绿色生活、共建生态文明——全国美术作品展”最高奖—优秀奖，中国美术家协会主办；
