1938年生，出生于广东澄海县。
1954年考进地方 美术学院附中，接受四年严厉 的美术外型 基础训练。
1958年考上北京艺术师范学院，5 年后被推荐到地方 美术学院油画系进修班深造两年，接受董希文、林岗、邓澍等教授的指点 。他曾前后 任教吉林艺术学院、广州美术学院，从事艺术教育数十年；并长时间 坚持美术创作。曾前后 有多幅作品入选全国美展，
1972年《打稻场上》水粉画入选全国美展。《待鱼归》入选第二届中国油画展。《闹市》入选第八届全国美展。
1990年工笔重彩作品《水浒108将全图》获广东省连环画研讨 会展优秀奖。此外他也应邀创作大型雕塑及壁画等，如80年代为广州白天鹅宾馆、广州暨南大学华文学院等创作大型壁画。
1999年为广州暨南大学华文学院设计新校门并创作大型石刻浮雕《华夏之魂》。
2002年受邀创作《美国9.11》纪念雕塑。
2003年为惠阳市马安镇创作标志性大型铜雕《奔腾》。
1998年赴欧洲进行艺术考察半年，在巴黎国际艺术城举办个展和联展，亦曾前后 在马来西亚、马连加斯加、台湾等地举行个展。
