1917年出生，别名笳声，浙江上虞人。擅长雕塑。
1947年毕业于国立北平艺专。历任敦煌艺术研讨 所助理研讨 员，地方 美术学院助教，后在天安门人民英雄纪念碑美工组工作。1958年起在北京雕塑工厂研讨 室从事创作。
作品有《鲁迅头像》、《徐锡麟先生像》等，论文有《评介“顺陵石狮”》等1947年毕业于北京国立艺术专科学校雕塑系。1952年参加了首都人民英雄纪念碑的浮雕设计与创作。1958年参与全国第1 家国营雕塑企业北京市建筑艺术雕塑工厂的组建工作。此后，他创作了许多著名的雕塑作品，如：毛主席浮雕头像被选用《毛泽东全集 》封面设计、鲁迅圆雕头像被选作邮标版面设计广为发行、《班达拉奈克总统》雕像坐落 在斯里兰卡国会大厦、《阿萨德总统》雕像座在叙利亚阿萨德体育馆。他还参与了建国后的北京十大建筑、毛主席纪念堂、几内亚纪念碑等国内外著名雕塑工程。
