Alberto Vargas (also known as Varga) (1896-1983) was born in Peru and is the son of a professional photographer (young Vargas made photo decorations). He studied in France and moved to New York in 1916. Vargas was "discovered" by Florence Ziegfeld while the artist was making a window display. Since 1919, he has painted Ziegfeld girls for 12 years.
