林建业，山东青岛人，擅长写意油画、彩墨，色粉，1983年毕业于山东艺术学院美术学院，艺术学学士。青岛市人大代表，青岛市拔尖人才，青岛市第八、九、十届政协委员。
现为中国美术家协会会员，山东美协油画艺委会委员、副秘书长，山东省当代油画院院士，清华大学杜大恺教授访问学者，青岛中山书画院副院长，青岛市国学学会常务理事，青岛民族宗教艺术家协会理事，青岛科技大学艺术学院副院长、硕士研讨 生导师。
年鉴
1974年，青岛市市南区观象二路小学毕业，师从姜宝星先生开始学画。
1977年，青岛第九中学（礼贤）毕业。
1977年，就业分配至青岛市美术设计公司，次要 绘制街头大牌子宣扬 画。
1979年，考入山东艺术学院美术学院油画专业，师从张洪祥、吕品、朱铭、赵玉琢、曹昌武、曲志刚、陈皋先生。
1981年，油画《篝火》入选“山东省美术作品展”并发表于同年《山东画报》。
1982年，风俗画《宝宝醒了》入选“山东风土人情画展”晋京展。
1983年，毕业创作《1 家子》、《清清的水》等作品发表于《人民日报》、《画廊》杂志，同年加入山东美术家协会。
1983年，毕业后放弃留校机会，跟随 姜宝星先生到青岛工人文明 宫美术科任美术指点 工作。
1984年，油画《1 家子》发表于山东艺术学院校刊封面、《齐鲁文学》封二、《清清的水》发表于《山东画报》。
1984年，油画《伙伴》入选“青岛市美展”获1 等奖、发表于《群众艺术》杂志封面。
1985年，油画《晌午》入选“山东省美术作品展”获优秀奖并发表于《中国农民报》；油画《悔恨》发表于《泉城》杂志。
1986年，油画《妆》入选第二届“青岛美画展”赴济南-山东美术馆展出；油画《生活起点》入选“青岛市美术作品展”获1 等奖。
1987年，作品《瑞雪》入选中国美协主办第1 届“中国油画展”，入编人美版《中国油画展作品选》并发表于同年《山东画报》。
1989年，油画《晚归》入选“青岛首届油画展”获特等奖。
1989/90年，两次荣获青岛市总工会颁发“为我市文明 艺术事业争得荣誉”奖励。
1989年，油画《青春》入选“全国首届职工美展”获银奖。
1990年，协助姜宝星先生成立“青岛油画院”，任副院长、创作部主任。青岛油画院是全国第1 家专业油画院，吴作人先生题写院名。
1991年，油画《人体》入选“国际艺苑年展”；获首批青岛市“十佳美术新人”荣誉称号。
1992年，秦大虎撰文“青年画家林建业”发表《青岛日报》并配发油画《静物》；油画《蒙山絮语》发表于《希望报》并配发“心与色彩的集汇”评介文章。
1993年，当选第八届青岛市政协委员。
1993年，油画《童年时代》、《麦收》发表于《青岛晚报》并配回忆文章“话童年”；油画《童趣》等十余幅作品被美国格林威治艺廊公司收藏。
1994年，《中国日报》发表英文评介文章并配发图片介绍。
1995年，油画《沂蒙娃》发表于《美术》杂志第八期；重彩画《灿烂的历史文明 》发表于《中国文明 报》，并配发“对民族传统的追思探究——读林建业的画作”评介文章；《联合报》、《青岛日报》发表纪宇撰文“寂寞建业”并配发美术作品《豆蔻年华》。
1996年，在北京·中国美术馆举办“林建业画展”，展出50余幅作品，贺敬之、闻立鹏先生题写展名。
1997年，撰写文章《忆宝星先生》发表于山东美协主办《山东美术通讯》。
1998年，当选第九届青岛市政协委员。
1998年，重彩作品《老椅子》、《少女》、《大海的女儿》发表于《青岛画报》并配发评介文章。
1999年，调入青岛化工学院经贸学院广告学教研室任副主任。
2000年，水粉画《瓶花》发表于《青岛科大学报》封二。
2001年，重彩画作品入编《政协书画作品集》；重彩画作品6幅刊登于《招商周刊》杂志
2002年，担任青岛科技大学文学与艺术学院美术系主任。
2003年，当选第十届青岛市政协委员。
2003年，教材《素描》由黄河出版社出版；同年赴欧洲艺术考察并成为国际外型 艺术家协会会员（联合国教科文组织上司 ）。
2004年，水彩画《期盼》获“第十届全国美术展览”山东展区二等奖，发表于〈美术〉杂志；画集《林建业线描人物》由国际文明 出版公司出版。
2005年，《林建业古代 重彩画集》由中国社会出版社出版；教材《景象素描》由大众文艺出版社出版。
2006年，取得“硕士生导师”资历 ，并晋升为教授。
2007年，担任青岛科技大学艺术学院副院长，青岛中山书画院副院长。
2007年，教材《构图·透视·解剖》由辽宁美术出版社出版。
2008年，油画《渔讯季节》入选“历史记忆·生活感悟--山东省美术作品展”。
2009年，油画《渔港的凌晨 》获“第十1 届全国美术展览”山东展区二等奖。
2010年，当选山东美协油画艺委会副秘书长、委员。
